GTA 6 did leak for real in August 2026: Rockstar confirmed that the Cyberleek clips were genuine. Most of the other “leaks” circulating in September 2026 are old, unconfirmed or misread. The claims that hold up come from Rockstar’s own words: the physical copy contains a download code, not a disc, and a “32 player format” appears in Rockstar’s tribunal documents, without confirming GTA 6 Online’s player count. The 676 GB file size is a hoax, the only collector’s item is a merchandise box that does not include the game, and the “80-hour story” is a misquote. Here is each claim, checked.

Were the Cyberleek GTA 6 leaks real?

Yes. On 18 August 2026, a leaker or group calling itself Cyberleek posted two GTA 6 gameplay clips and an image said to show the whole Leonida map, as a protest against digital pre-orders and against physical copies without a disc. More clips followed over the next week, including one where the player shoots the word “LEEK” into a wall, which suggests access to a playable build. Rockstar issued DMCA takedowns, then posted a statement on 26 August calling the leaks “heartbreaking for our team” and saying the game was nearly finished. The official Extended Look aired the next day. Take-Two has since asked Microsoft for information on members of Discord servers linked to the leaks. The early clips were said to come from an older build, so details may have changed; the map image was disputed by a fan mapping project. Everything Rockstar has officially shown is in our Extended Look breakdown.

What is the 200 GB Rockstar leak?

An archive of about 200 GB appeared on Reddit around 18 September 2026. It comes from the September 2022 Rockstar hack, the same breach that leaked early GTA 6 footage, and a smaller part of it had already surfaced in December 2023. It holds GTA 5 source code, debug builds, cut GTA Online content and very early GTA 6 development files, including a 2015 prototype of the map that modders now load inside GTA 5. It says nothing about the finished game, and Rockstar has not commented on it.

Is the 113 GB GTA 6 build real?

No. After the Cyberleek clips, a 113 GB “GTA 6 PC build” spread on torrent sites around 22 August. People who analysed the ISO reported that it was almost entirely empty data padding a file of about 50 KB, with commands that add the system drive to Windows Defender’s exclusions and close security software. Rockstar has announced GTA 6 only for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so any playable PC download is fake. Do not run it.

Does the GTA 6 box really have no disc?

Yes. This one sounded like a rumour but is official: Rockstar’s pre-order information, reported by Push Square and Pure Xbox on 24 June 2026, says physical copies contain a code for the digital download and no disc. Physical copies are available from 12 November for preloading. Details in our article on the GTA 6 physical copy and file size.

Is the 676 GB file size real?

No. The screenshot of an Xbox Store listing showing 676.7 GB spread in December 2025 and was debunked as a hoax, as Technobezz reported. On 27 September 2026, neither Rockstar nor the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store shows any size for GTA 6. Figures like “150 to 200 GB” are guesses.

Is there a GTA 6 collector’s edition?

Not for the game itself. Photos of an elaborate box were posted on 9 and 10 September by someone claiming to work at a print company, then deleted; Notebookcheck noted that several observers read them as a press or influencer kit. Then on 24 September, Rockstar opened pre-orders for The Goodtime State: Vice City Collection, a collector’s box at $399.99 in the US and £349.99 in the UK. It holds 11 items themed on Macca the Gator, a TV show from the game’s world, including a figure, Oakley sunglasses, a New Era cap, a bag and a poster with the map of Leonida. It ships on 19 November, and the game is sold separately: there is no disc and no download code in the box. For the game, Rockstar sells only a Standard and an Ultimate Edition, compared on our GTA 6 editions page.

Will GTA 6 Online have 32 players?

Not confirmed. The phrase “an online 32 player format” comes from Rockstar’s documents in the employment tribunal that opened in Scotland on 10 September, where Rockstar calls it “highly confidential at that time”. The documents do not say it is GTA 6 Online’s final format, and Rockstar has not announced an online mode for GTA 6. What is confirmed is on our GTA 6 Online page.

Is GTA 6’s story 80 hours long?

That is not what was said. Rockstar North’s Rob Nelson told The New York Times that a playthrough of about 80 hours in February covered “some of the main campaign and some optional side quests”, on a version that was not final, as Insider Gaming reported on 27 August. It says the game is large, not how long the story is.
