Sony sells two limited-edition GTA 6 DualSense controllers, a Black and a White, at 84.99 EUR, 84.99 USD or 74.99 GBP each. Pre-orders open on 10 September 2026 at 10 am local time, and both ship on 19 November, the day the game launches. The White edition goes to PlayStation Direct and participating retailers worldwide. The Black edition is a PlayStation Direct exclusive where the store operates, with select retailers elsewhere. Neither comes with the game, and there is no console, bundle or Xbox equivalent. Here is what you get, what it costs against a standard pad, how to be first in line on the 10th, and where the real saving on a GTA 6 launch sits.
What do the two controllers look like?
Both were shown at the State of Play of 3 September 2026 and detailed on the PlayStation Blog the same day by Isabelle Tomatis, Sony’s vice-president of global marketing, with Rockstar’s usual “R*Q” signature under hers. They share a colour-shifting finish that Sony describes as the hues of a Vice City sunset and the glow of neon lights: the surface reads pink, orange and blue depending on the angle, over a black or a white base. Palm trees are moulded into the grips, so you feel them under the fingers rather than see a print, the touchpad carries the Roman numeral VI in grey, and the face buttons are picked out in the hot pink of the game’s logo. The lower part of each controller shades into an iridescent blue.
- White Limited Edition: Sony calls it Vice City at daybreak, white sand and pastel sky. It is the one that will be easiest to find, because it goes to retailers as well as PlayStation Direct.
- Black Limited Edition: Vice City at night, the darker base with the same shifting finish. Sold mainly through PlayStation Direct, which makes it the scarcer of the two.
Inside, nothing changes. The haptic feedback, the adaptive triggers, the built-in microphone, the battery and the USB-C port are those of a standard DualSense; Sony has not announced Edge-style features such as back buttons or swappable sticks. In GTA 6 the controller behaves like any other: Sony’s post says the haptics and triggers respond to the action, which is true of every DualSense on every PS5 game. You pay for the finish, not for a function.
How much do they cost?
| Market | Recommended price |
|---|
| Eurozone | 84.99 EUR |
| United States | 84.99 USD |
| United Kingdom | 74.99 GBP |
| Japan | 12,480 JPY, tax included |
A standard DualSense lists at 74.99 EUR in Sony’s own store and usually sells a little under that in shops, so the GTA 6 finish costs about ten euros more. Sony’s recent limited editions, the Astro Bot and 30th Anniversary controllers among them, sat at 79.99 USD in the United States; the GTA 6 pair is five dollars above them, the highest Sony has asked for a standard-layout DualSense. These are recommended prices: PlayStation Direct sells at exactly that figure, retailers set their own, and the White edition is the one where a retailer discount is conceivable later in the year. The Black edition will not be discounted while it is a PlayStation Direct exclusive.
When and where do pre-orders open?
Pre-orders start on 10 September 2026 at 10 am local time. On PlayStation Direct that means 10 am in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, and 7 am Pacific, 10 am Eastern in the United States. Both editions are sold in limited quantities. Sony has not given a number, and its previous limited editions have sold out quickly at PlayStation Direct, so the first hour is the moment.
- White: direct.playstation.com and participating retailers. Sony has not published the retailer list; expect the usual electronics chains and the retailers that already list the game.
- Black: direct.playstation.com only, in the countries where the store exists. Elsewhere, Sony names select retailers without listing them yet.
Three things to have ready before 10 am: a PlayStation Direct account created and signed in, because the queue system puts you in line as you arrive; a payment card saved, so the checkout takes seconds; and the decision on Black or White made in advance, since going back to the listing during a rush loses your place. A pre-order placed on 10 September does not ship earlier than the release date: both controllers arrive on or around 19 November 2026, with the game.
Is there a GTA 6 PS5 console or bundle?
No. Sony announced two controllers and nothing else on 3 September: no console cover, no PS5 Pro bundle, no edition of the game packed with a controller, no faceplates. Anything sold as a “GTA 6 PS5 bundle” is a retailer assembling a console and a game at its own price, and a controller listed with the game is a retailer’s basket, not a Sony product. Microsoft has announced nothing either: there is no official GTA 6 Xbox controller as of 9 September 2026, and none has been teased. If a console bundle exists, it will come from Sony’s own channels first; the GTA 6 hub on GTAside will carry it the day it does.
Is it worth 84.99 EUR?
If you want a second controller for launch week anyway, the premium is about ten euros for a finish that will not be reissued: a fair deal for a collector, a poor one for anyone who only needs a working pad, because the controller does nothing a standard one does not. The scarce one is the Black; the one worth buying for use is the White, which will remain findable.
The money question sits elsewhere. Rockstar’s price for the game is 79.99 EUR for the Standard Edition and 99.99 EUR for the Ultimate, while the cheapest key we track is 62.99 EUR at Instant Gaming, checked on 4 September 2026. The 17 EUR saved on the game covers most of the controller’s premium. Our GTA 6 price comparison lists Instant Gaming, Eneba, Kinguin and the official stores for both editions, keys told apart from shared accounts. Instant Gaming links on GTAside are affiliate links, same price for you.
Frequently asked questions
How much is the GTA 6 DualSense controller?
84.99 EUR, 84.99 USD or 74.99 GBP, the same recommended price for the Black and the White edition. That is about ten euros above a standard DualSense and five dollars above Sony’s previous limited editions.
When do GTA 6 DualSense pre-orders open?
10 September 2026 at 10 am local time. PlayStation Direct takes orders for both editions; participating retailers take the White only. Quantities are limited and Sony has not said how many exist.
When do the controllers release?
19 November 2026, the same day as GTA 6. A pre-order is a reservation, not an early delivery: the controller ships for the release date.
Is the Black edition available in shops?
Only where PlayStation Direct does not operate, through retailers Sony has not named yet. In the UK, the US and the main European markets it is PlayStation Direct only, which is why it will be the harder one to find after launch.
Do the controllers do anything special in GTA 6?
No. Haptics, adaptive triggers and microphone work as on any DualSense, and the game does not detect the edition. The purchase is cosmetic, which is also why a standard controller loses nothing on launch day.
Is there an Xbox equivalent?
Not as of 9 September 2026. Microsoft has announced no GTA 6 controller, console or bundle, and Rockstar’s marketing deals so far are with Sony.
Prices and dates from the PlayStation Blog of 3 September 2026 and the State of Play of the same day. We will update this page when pre-orders open on 10 September and if a retailer list appears.
