Grand Theft Auto VI is the most anticipated video game of all time. GTA 6 takes players back to Vice City, now part of the fictional state of Leonida, a modern reimagining of Florida.

The game features Lucia, the first female protagonist in GTA history, alongside her partner Jason in a Bonnie-and-Clyde-inspired crime story across neon-lit streets, swampy Everglades, and sun-bleached coastal towns.

When Does GTA 6 Come Out?

The official GTA 6 release date is November 19, 2026, confirmed by Rockstar Games. The game launches simultaneously on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. No PC version has been dated, see our GTA 6 PC page; the days left are on the GTA 6 release date countdown.

Where Is GTA 6 Set?

In Leonida, Rockstar's Florida, across six named regions: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, the Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. Rockstar has not published a size; journalists at the hands-off previews of 2 September 2026 estimated about twice GTA V's map. Every region is on our interactive GTA 6 map.

GTA 6 Characters: Who Are Lucia and Jason?

GTA 6 introduces a dual-protagonist system. Lucia Caminos is the first playable female lead in a mainline GTA game, fresh out of Leonida Penitentiary with a plan. Jason Duval is her partner, an Army veteran working for drug runners in the Keys. Rockstar frames their story as a couple forced to rely on each other after an easy score goes wrong. Players switch between both characters during gameplay, similar to GTA V's three-character system.

Six more characters are confirmed, each with a profile: Brian Heder and Cal Hampton in the Keys, Boobie Ike, Dre'Quan Priest and Real Dimez in Vice City's music scene, and the bank robber Raul Bautista. The characters hub has the full cast table, and the vehicles list covers every car, bike and boat Rockstar has named.
