GTA 6 launches on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Rockstar has not announced a PC version or a date. What changed in September is the noise around it: on 4 September, VGC editor Andy Robinson said on his podcast that he expects Rockstar to move the PC version up, because console prices have climbed so far that a large part of the audience has no current-generation machine. Here is what is confirmed, what is reported, and what Rockstar’s own history suggests.
Update, 14 September 2026: what Andy Robinson said
On the VGC Podcast of 4 September, Robinson put it this way: “I do think they’ll push the PC version up. There’s a bit of noise about that. That perhaps the PC version might arrive sooner than some people might expect just because of everything that’s going on.” He was discussing console prices: the PlayStation 5 launched at 499.99 USD in 2020 and is listed at 649.99 USD today, the Xbox Series X at 799.99 USD, and the report expects GTA 6 to sell out the stock that exists. A PC version reaches players who will not buy a console at those prices.
That is one journalist relaying what he hears, and he says so himself. Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has commented. Take-Two has said for two years that PC is a growing market it will not underserve, which is a statement of intent, not a date.
What is confirmed about GTA 6 on PC?
- Rockstar’s release announcement names PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for 19 November 2026 and nothing else.
- No PC version has been announced, dated or priced.
- Instant Gaming lists a GTA 6 PC page, as it does a Nintendo Switch 2 page; neither carries a Rockstar release date, and neither is proof of anything beyond a placeholder.
How long did previous Rockstar games take to reach PC?
| Game | Console release | PC release | Gap |
| Grand Theft Auto IV | 29 April 2008 | 2 December 2008 | 7 months |
| Grand Theft Auto V | 17 September 2013 | 14 April 2015 | 19 months |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | 26 October 2018 | 5 November 2019 | 1 year and 10 days |
GTA V’s gap included a generation change, with the PS4 and Xbox One versions in between. Red Dead Redemption 2 is the closer precedent: one console generation, one year. If Rockstar repeats it, a PC version lands around November 2027. Robinson’s report is about that window shrinking, not about a launch-day PC release.
Is there any way to play GTA 6 on PC at launch?
Not legitimately. Stories about a PS5 emulator running GTA V on PC at up to 60 fps circulated on 6 September; the same tools are years away from running a brand-new title, if they ever do, and they require a console’s firmware and a legitimately owned game to begin with. Cloud gaming is the only real route: a console copy streamed to a PC through PlayStation’s or Xbox’s own services, where they exist in your country, at the console’s 30 fps.
Should a PC player pre-order the console version?
Only with a console to play it on. A PS5 or Xbox key is redeemed on that platform’s account and cannot be moved to a PC later. If you do own a console, the cheapest key we track is 62.99 EUR at Instant Gaming against 79.99 EUR on the official stores, checked on 4 September 2026; our GTA 6 price comparison lists every seller and both editions. Instant Gaming links on GTAside are affiliate links, same price for you.
