Red Dead Redemption 2 has 104 story missions in the standard game, across six chapters and a two-part Epilogue, from Outlaws from the West to American Venom. You play Arthur Morgan through the six chapters and John Marston in the Epilogue. Below, every mission in order, chapter by chapter, with who gives it and which ones are optional.
104 is the number of story missions the game grades with a Gold Medal, the count of Stevivor and of the fan medal lists. The lists differ in how they cut the story: one has 110 lines because it groups multi-part missions under one name and adds High and Low Finance, a mission of the Special and Ultimate Editions only, and it marks 19 as optional. Another mission list adds up to 109, 94 story missions and 15 optional ones. The table below follows the 110-line list's order and chapters.

Mission count by chapter: Colter, 6; Horseshoe Overlook, 19; Clemens Point, 18; Saint Denis, 16; Guarma, 9; Beaver Hollow, 21; Pronghorn Ranch, 10; Beecher's Hope, 11. Chapter 6, Beaver Hollow, is the longest, and Chapter 5, Guarma, is a short island interlude between Saint Denis and the end of the gang. The Epilogue splits in two, Pronghorn Ranch and then Beecher's Hope, where John builds a home before the last mission.
