GTA 6 comes out on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only, with preloading from 12 November for digital pre-orders. Sony's store lists it as PS5 Pro Enhanced without saying what that means, Microsoft's as optimised for Xbox Series X|S, and no PC version is announced. Rockstar has published no frame rate or resolution: the 30 fps figure going round comes from an interview, not from Rockstar.
| Platform | At launch | What is official |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | Yes | Sony's "plays best on PS5" partnership: DualSense haptics, adaptive triggers and speaker. The Extended Look was captured on PS5 |
| PlayStation 5 Pro | Yes | "PS5 Pro Enhanced" on the PlayStation Store listing; what the enhancement is has not been described |
| Xbox Series X | Yes | "Optimized for Xbox Series X|S" on the Xbox Store listing |
| Xbox Series S | Yes | Covered by the same Xbox Series X|S listing; nothing specific to the Series S has been published |
| PC | No | Not announced. Take-Two's chief executive told Bloomberg Rockstar starts on console, with no PC date |
| PS4 and Xbox One | No | Not among the platforms Rockstar lists |
Rockstar has not published a frame rate. The 30 fps figure comes from Rob Nelson, a head of Rockstar North, who told the YouTuber Davy Jones during a studio visit that the game currently runs at 30 fps on console during development, and that a 60 fps mode was a question for the technical team; Kotaku reported it on 27 August 2026 and TechPowerUp the next day. Headlines calling it confirmed go further than the quote. Resolution has not been given for any console.
Only that Sony lists GTA 6 among the games improved on PS5 Pro. Neither Sony nor Rockstar has said whether that means a higher resolution, a steadier frame rate or better effects. Until they do, any figure for the Pro is a report, not a specification.
From 12 November 2026 for digital pre-orders, one week before launch, by Rockstar's own announcement. The physical Standard Edition is a download code in a box, on sale from the same day so that disc buyers can preload too. Rockstar has not published the install size; the 150 to 200 GB figures online are estimates. Unlock hours by country are in our GTA 6 release times guide.
Not at launch, and no date has been announced. Take-Two's chief executive, Strauss Zelnick, told Bloomberg that Rockstar always starts on console, reported by Wccftech and gHacks in May 2026. GTA IV, GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 all reached PC after consoles; what is known is on our GTA 6 PC page.
GTA 6 was moved from 26 May 2026 to 19 November 2026, announced on 6 November 2025. Pre-orders opened on 25 June 2026, at $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition in the United States; prices elsewhere are on our editions page and today's cheapest keys on our GTA 6 price comparison. The game is not rated yet: the stores show "Rating Pending, Likely Mature 17+". The limited-edition DualSense controllers and the countdown complete the launch picture.
