📅 Checked on
Enter the sequence quickly during play, directions on the D-pad. A message in the corner confirms the cheat. 28 of the 36 cheats have a sequence; the rest are dialled on the phone, and the number is given on every card. The numbers work on PS5 and PS4, not on PS3.

How to Enter Cheats on PS5 and PS4
- Load your story mode save. Cheats do nothing in GTA Online.
- In free roam, press the sequence quickly. Directions go on the D-pad.
- Watch the corner of the screen: a message confirms the cheat. No message means the sequence was too slow, or the cheat is refused where you are, often inside a mission.
- To switch most cheats off, enter the same sequence again.
Phone Cheats on PS5 and PS4
Press Up on the D-pad to take out the phone, open Contacts, then press Square to bring up the keypad. Dial the 1-999 number and call it. The phone does not keep the numbers, so dial again each time. On PS3 there is no keypad route: the button sequences are the only way in, and the Dodo, Duke O'Death and Kraken cheats do not exist.
Trophies on PS5 and PS4
Any cheat turns trophies off until you reload a save or restart the game. Nothing is written to the save, so the file itself stays clean, even after an autosave. Moving from PS4 to PS5 changes nothing here: the sequences are identical.
The full list of all 36, with the PC codes and every console side by side, is on the main GTA 5 cheats page. On another platform: Xbox or PC.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do GTA 5 cheats work on PS5?
Yes, in story mode. The PS5 version uses the same button sequences as PS4 and PS3, and it also accepts the 1-999 phone numbers. Nothing works in GTA Online.
How do you use phone cheats in GTA 5 on PS5?
Press Up on the D-pad to take out the phone, open Contacts and press Square to bring up the keypad. Dial the 1-999 number and call it. The phone does not keep the numbers, so dial again each time.
Do cheats disable trophies in GTA 5 on PS5?
Only for the session. Once a cheat is active, no trophy unlocks and missions score bronze at best. Reload a save or restart the game and trophies unlock again, even if the game autosaved while the cheat was on.
Do the phone cheats work on PS3?
No. The phone numbers arrived with the PS4 version. On PS3 you enter the button sequences, and the Dodo, Duke O'Death and Kraken cheats do not exist.
Why is my GTA 5 cheat not working on PS5?
Usually because you are in a mission, where some cheats are refused, or because the sequence was too slow. Try again in free roam, quickly, with the directions on the D-pad. The Dodo, Duke O'Death and Kraken numbers also need the vehicle unlocked first.
