Abigail Roberts (Abigail Marston): John Marston's Wife

Abigail Marston, born Abigail Roberts, is John Marston's partner and later wife, and the mother of Jack Marston. She appears in Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018), where she lives with the Van der Linde gang, and in Red Dead Redemption (2010), set in 1911. Cali Elizabeth Moore plays her in RDR2, and Sophia Marzocchi in Red Dead Redemption.

Abigail in the Van der Linde Gang

An orphan, Abigail joined the gang about five or six years before 1899 and soon became pregnant with Jack. In Red Dead Redemption 2, she asks Arthur to find John in chapter 1, gets Jack back after the Braithwaites kidnap him, and creates the diversion with Hosea during the Saint Denis bank robbery.

Abigail and Agent Milton

In chapter 6, Abigail begs the gang to rescue John. She is kidnapped by Pinkerton agent Andrew Milton, and when Arthur and Sadie come for her, she kills Milton. She gives Arthur the key to the gang's money.

In the epilogue, Abigail leaves John and then returns to the ranch at Beecher's Hope. John proposes in Blackwater, and they marry after Micah's death.

Abigail in Red Dead Redemption

In 1911, agent Edgar Ross takes Abigail and Jack to force John to hunt down his old gang. They are released, but John is killed at the ranch. Abigail dies in 1914. The full story is on the John Marston profile.

Charles Smith: The Gang's Most Loyal Member in Red Dead Redemption 2

Charles Smith is a hunter, tracker and fighter who joined the Van der Linde gang about six months before Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018). Born to an African American father and a Native American mother, he is one of Arthur Morgan's most loyal friends and survives the game. Noshir Dalal plays him.

Charles's Story

Charles teaches Arthur to use a bow and takes part in the Cornwall train robbery in chapter 1. In chapter 2 he helps rescue Sean in The First Shall Be Last. During the Saint Denis bank robbery he creates a diversion so the others can escape, then keeps the gang moving with Sadie while Arthur is in Guarma. In chapter 6 he helps the Wapiti, Eagle Flies and Rains Fall, and stays to protect them.

What Happens to Charles?

In 1907, Charles fights in Saint Denis street fights, helps John build the house at Beecher's Hope, and joins the hunt for Micah on Mount Hagen, where he is wounded. After John and Abigail's wedding, he leaves, planning to go to Canada.

Colm O'Driscoll: Leader of the O'Driscoll Boys

Colm O'Driscoll is the leader of the O'Driscoll Boys, the Van der Linde gang's rivals in Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018). A former associate of Dutch, he turned into his sworn enemy. He is hanged in Saint Denis in chapter 6. Andrew Berg plays him.

Colm and Dutch

Colm and Dutch once worked together. The feud began when Dutch killed Colm's brother and Colm killed Dutch's lover Annabelle. Colm built the O'Driscolls into one of the biggest gangs in the West by recruiting in numbers: in Old Friends, Dutch points out that he knows every one of his men by name, and that Colm surely does not. The O'Driscolls also killed Sadie Adler's husband Jake.

Colm's Missions

Colm appears in person in three missions. The O'Driscolls come up earlier: in Outlaws from the West, a survivor at the Adler ranch reveals they are planning to rob a train.

Escaping Colm's Trap

After the fake truce, Arthur hangs in a cellar. He frees himself, digs the bullet out and cauterizes the wound, escapes on horseback and collapses at the Clemens Point camp, where he needs weeks to recover. If he does not recover his weapons, the gang replaces them. The gold medal asks you to free and heal yourself in under a minute, get your weapons back, kill the O'Driscolls who beat you and escape unseen. In chapter 4, in Horsemen, Apocalypses, the O'Driscolls send Kieran's body back to camp on his horse, then attack Shady Belle, and the gang drives them off.

How Does Colm O'Driscoll Die?

In Goodbye, Dear Friend, Arthur takes out Paul, the O'Driscoll marksman on a rooftop who is meant to cover the escape, while Dutch and Sadie hold two O'Driscolls hostage in the crowd. Colm sees Arthur signal to him from the roof, understands no one is coming, and is hanged. Sadie then kills the two hostages, which starts a gunfight. The mission rewards the Carcano Rifle; back at camp, Tilly hands Arthur Mary's goodbye letter.

The End of the O'Driscoll Boys

In Mrs. Sadie Adler, Widow, in chapter 6, Sadie and Arthur attack the last O'Driscolls at Hanging Dog Ranch, and Sadie kills the man who shot her husband. Turning Sadie down in the first part of the mission locks the second.

How to Say Colm

The name is pronounced "Col-om". In the game, only Sean MacGuire says it that way, correcting Kieran at the campfire. Roger Clark, who plays Arthur, has said he flagged the mistake but Rockstar had him keep saying it wrong.

Hosea Matthews: Co-Founder of the Van der Linde Gang

Hosea Matthews is the co-founder of the Van der Linde gang and Dutch's oldest friend in Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018): a con man and Dutch's adviser. He is killed during the Saint Denis bank robbery in chapter 4. Curzon Dobell plays him.

Hosea's Past

Hosea met Dutch about twenty years before the game, when each tried to rob the other on the road to Chicago. He married Bessie and tried to leave crime behind, but returned to it and was devastated by her death.

Hosea's Story

Hosea plays both sides with Catherine Braithwaite in chapter 3, and in chapter 4 finds the lead on the Saint Denis bank at the mayor's party, planning a diversion with Abigail.

In chapter 4, in the mission Banking, The Old American Art, Pinkerton agent Andrew Milton shoots Hosea in the chest outside the bank.

Lenny Summers: Arthur's Young Friend in Red Dead Redemption 2

Lenny Summers is a young, educated gunman in the Van der Linde gang in Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018) and one of Arthur Morgan's closest friends. He is killed during the Saint Denis bank robbery in chapter 4. Harron Atkins plays him.

Lenny's Past

When Lenny was 15, his father was killed by drunks. Lenny killed the murderers and went on the run for three years before joining the gang.

Lenny takes part in the Cornwall train robbery in chapter 1, gets drunk with Arthur in Valentine in chapter 2, fights the Lemoyne Raiders at Shady Belle and robs the Valentine bank in chapter 3, and joins the attack on Angelo Bronte's mansion in chapter 4.

How Does Lenny Die?

In chapter 4, during Banking, The Old American Art, Lenny is shot by the Pinkertons on the rooftops while leading the escape. His death cannot be prevented.

Sean MacGuire: The Irish Outlaw of Red Dead Redemption 2

Sean MacGuire is a young Irish thief in the Van der Linde gang in Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018), from a family of criminals. Rescued from bounty hunters in chapter 2, he is shot dead in Rhodes in chapter 3. Michael Mellamphy plays him.

Sean's Story

Sean joined the gang after trying to steal Dutch's watch in an alley. Separated from the others after Blackwater and captured by bounty hunters, he is rescued by Arthur, Charles and Javier in chapter 2 (The First Shall Be Last). He takes part in John's train robbery and helps Arthur burn the Grays' tobacco fields in chapter 3.

How Does Sean Die?

In chapter 3, in the mission A Short Walk in a Pretty Town, a hidden gunman shoots Sean in the head in Rhodes, in an ambush set up by the Grays. His death is scripted and cannot be prevented.
