Best Horse in Red Dead Redemption 2
The best horse in Red Dead Redemption 2 is the Rose Grey Bay Arabian: 7 health, 7 stamina, 6 speed and 6 acceleration, sold at the Blackwater stable in the Epilogue for $1,250. Before the Epilogue, buy the Black Arabian at Saint Denis from Chapter 4. If you want one for free, tame the White Arabian north-west of Lake Isabella.

How These Horses Are Ranked
By the four base stats the game shows on its bars, health, stamina, speed and acceleration, added together. The values come from the breeds' base stats and match databases that score the same stats out of 100, horse for horse. The one exception is the Red Chestnut Arabian, where one database shows the Red Dead Online values; the table uses the story-mode ones. Only horses you can own in story mode are listed: many of the best coats in the game, several Mustangs, Bretons and Kladrubers among them, exist only in Red Dead Online.
The Arabians: Best Stats, Best Handling
Every Arabian has elite handling, the most responsive steering of any breed, and the three best of them fill the top of the table. The Rose Grey Bay is the strongest but comes very late. The Black Arabian is the realistic target: $1,050 at Saint Denis once Chapter 4 opens the city. The White Arabian is weaker on health and stamina, 5 and 5, but free, and one fan list names the Chapter 3 mission Horse Flesh for Dinner, given by John Marston at Braithwaite Manor, as another way to get both.
Fastest, Toughest, Cheapest
Three breeds reach 7 speed: the Missouri Fox Trotter, the Brindle Thoroughbred and the Reverse Dapple Roan Nokota. The Fox Trotter is the only one of them with real stamina, 6, which makes the Amber Champagne from Scarlett Meadows the best fast horse in Chapter 4. For fights, the Turkoman, the Andalusian and the Ardennes all reach 7 health, and the Turkoman keeps 6 speed where the other two fall to 3. On a budget, the $450 Brindle Thoroughbred from Strawberry in Chapter 3 is as fast as anything in the game, if fragile.
