Fastest Boats in GTA 5 and GTA Online
The fastest boat in GTA 5 and GTA Online is the Longfin. It has the highest speed setting of any boat in the game, and it stays first when the boats are timed on the water, at about 196 km/h. Below it, the order depends on how you measure, and a few boats are much better, or much worse, than their numbers suggest.
Two Ways to Rank a Boat
Every vehicle in GTA has a top speed value written in the game's handling data. For boats, it is a setting rather than a reading on a speedometer: it puts them in order against each other, but the water, the waves and the way each hull sits change what you really get.
On that scale the Longfin leads with 140, ahead of the Jetmax (135), the Speeder and the Toro (133) and the Seashark jet ski (130). Timed on the water, the Longfin is still first, at 196.34 km/h, but the order below changes: the humble Dinghy comes second at 115.07 km/h, ahead of the Jetmax (112.65 km/h) and the Speeder (109.84 km/h), and the Toro falls far behind at 80.87 km/h.
Which Boat to Use
For pure speed, the Longfin, without question. The Dinghy is the pleasant surprise: quick in real conditions, it is a good pick for missions along the coast. The Seashark is the most fun of all, a nimble jet ski quick enough to keep up with most speedboats.
The Kurtz 31 Patrol Boat carries mounted guns, and the Police Predator is the police's own boat; both sit at 120. The Marquis sailboat (30) and the Tug (18) are for the view, not for racing.
Submarines
The four submarines, the Submersible, the Kraken, the Avisa and the Kosatka, all share the same speed value of 75, about half that of the fastest speedboats. They are built for diving, not racing. The Kosatka is in a class of its own: it is the headquarters of The Cayo Perico Heist, and the small Avisa is launched from it.
Amphibious vehicles such as the Toreador and the Stromberg count as cars in the game's data, so they are ranked with the fastest cars and the armored vehicles.
