The Warriors follows a Coney Island street gang of nine members: Cleon, Swan, Ajax, Snow, Vermin, Cowboy, Fox, Cochise and Rembrandt, all playable. Six actors from the 1979 film return to voice their characters, including Michael Beck as Swan and James Remar as Ajax. The villain is Luther, leader of the Rogues, voiced by Oliver Wyman.

Ajax is one of the Warriors' heavy muscle, with Snow, in The Warriors (2005). Tough and hot-headed, he fights his way through the game until he is arrested in Riverside Park. James Remar, who played Ajax in the 1979 film, voices him in the game.

In the flashback Heavy Muscle, Ajax and Snow survive Cleon's initiation fight, then go into Destroyer turf, lose their vests and win them back. Ajax is playable in Writer's Block and Adios Amigo.

Yes. After the fight with the Baseball Furies, Ajax leaves the group for a woman alone on a bench; she is an undercover police officer and handcuffs him. He does not reach Coney. In the film, Ajax resents Swan taking charge, and the comic The Warriors: Jail Break is about breaking him out. More on Swan.
Ajax is the second player in Armies of the Night, the arcade game inside The Warriors, and an unlockable character in The Warriors: Street Brawl (2009).
Cleon founded the Warriors with Vermin and leads the gang in The Warriors (2005). A former Destroyer betrayed by his old friend Virgil, he is a playable character before the gang meeting, where Luther frames him for the murder of Cyrus. Dorsey Wright, who played Cleon in the film, voices him.

Cleon was a Destroyer and Virgil's right-hand man. In the flashback Roots, Virgil sends Cleon and Vermin to a fake drug deal at a warehouse; they survive and declare war on the Destroyers.

At the gang meeting that opens Desperate Dudes, Luther shoots Cyrus and blames Cleon, and the Gramercy Riffs attack him. The Riffs seemingly beat him to death. In the film, the Riffs beat Cleon to death. Swan then takes over. More on Swan and Luther.
In The Warriors (2005), Cyrus is the leader of the Gramercy Riffs, the biggest gang in New York. He calls a meeting of the city's gangs and proposes a truce, but Luther shoots him dead. In the game he is voiced by Michael Potts; Roger Hill played him in the 1979 film.

The game gives Cyrus more screen time than the film, showing him set his plan in motion before the meeting. His second-in-command is Masai. In the film, the meeting takes place in Van Cortlandt Park.
At the meeting that opens Desperate Dudes, as Cyrus speaks, Luther, leader of the Rogues, shoots him dead as the police raid the meeting, and blames the Warriors. Luther later says he did it for no reason. In Friendly Faces, Masai learns the truth from a witness. More on Luther.
Roger Hill, who played Cyrus in the film, sued Take-Two for $250,000 over the use of his voice and likeness in the game. The outcome is unclear: he is said to have won, but also to have died in 2014 with the case unresolved.

In Come Out To Play, the Rogues chase the Warriors at Coney in their hearse. Luther and Swan fight one on one, Luther pulls a gun, and Swan disarms him with a thrown switchblade. In the film, David Patrick Kelly improvised the famous taunt "Warriors, come out to play-ay". More on Swan.
It is not shown. Masai and the Riffs arrive and punish the Rogues, and during the credits you control the Riffs beating them.
Swan is the Warriors' second-in-command in The Warriors (2005), the Rockstar Toronto game based on the 1979 film. After Cleon is killed at the gang meeting, Swan takes charge and leads the gang back to Coney Island, where he defeats Luther. Michael Beck, who played Swan in the film, voices him in the game.

In the flashback The Best, Swan and Cowboy win a King of the Hill contest to join the Warriors, then help take the gang's hangout from the Destroyers. Swan fights beside Cleon in Encore and Payin' The Cost.
