Fastest Cars in GTA San Andreas
Two cars tie for the fastest in San Andreas: the Infernus and the Turismo, both at 240 km/h. They are not first and second, they are identical. Behind them three more cars share 230, and five share 200. The ranking below gives tied vehicles the same number, because that is what the data says.
| # | Vehicle | Top speed | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Infernus Tied for the fastest in the game, and the harder of the two to find. | 240 km/h 149.13 mph | Sports car |
| 1 | Turismo Exactly the same top speed as the Infernus, down to the decimal. | 240 km/h 149.13 mph | Sports car |
| 3 | Bullet | 230 km/h 142.92 mph | Sports car |
| 3 | Cheetah | 230 km/h 142.92 mph | Sports car |
| 3 | Super GT Three cars share this figure. Choose on handling, not on speed. | 230 km/h 142.92 mph | Sports car |
| 6 | Hotring Racer The only vehicle sitting alone between two brackets. | 220 km/h 136.70 mph | Race car |
| 7 | Banshee | 200 km/h 124.27 mph | Sports car |
| 7 | ZR-350 | 200 km/h 124.27 mph | Sports car |
| 7 | Comet | 200 km/h 124.27 mph | Sports car |
| 7 | Jester | 200 km/h 124.27 mph | Sports car |
| 7 | Elegy Five cars tie at 200 km/h. The Elegy is the one you will see most often. | 200 km/h 124.27 mph | Sports car |
| 12 | NRG-500 The famous fast bike, and slower on paper than eleven cars. Its reputation comes from acceleration, not from top speed. | 190 km/h 118.06 mph | Motorcycle |
Infernus or Turismo?
On top speed, neither. Both reach exactly 240 km/h, down to the same 149.13 mph. The choice comes down to where you are: the Turismo spawns around Los Santos and is the one you will get your hands on first, while the Infernus is one of the vehicles the Import and Export dock asks for, which makes it worth stealing for reasons other than speed.
The Fastest Bike Is Slower Than Eleven Cars
The NRG-500 tops out at 190 km/h, below every car in this list. Its reputation is entirely deserved anyway, and it comes from two things top speed does not measure: it reaches its ceiling far faster than any car, and it fits through gaps in Los Santos traffic that a Turismo cannot. If you are being chased, the bike is still the answer. If you are racing down a straight in the desert, it is not.
Why So Many Cars Share the Same Figure
San Andreas puts vehicles into speed brackets instead of giving each one an individual figure. Every published speed converts to a whole number of kilometres per hour: 240, 230, 220, 200, 190. Not one lands between two. That is why five different sports cars, the Banshee, the ZR-350, the Comet, the Jester and the Elegy, are all exactly as fast as one another, and why choosing between them on speed is impossible.
The same design runs through the series. GTA III uses 240, 230, 200, 180 and 160, with four cars tied at 200. GTA IV compresses the whole range into 145 to 163, and five of its eight sports cars share a single ceiling. Once you know the brackets exist, every « fastest car » list in the series reads differently.
