GTA San Andreas has 101 story missions, from In the Beginning to End of the Line. They run through six chapters: Los Santos, the countryside, San Fierro, the desert, Las Venturas and a return to Los Santos. Below, all of them in order, with who gives each one, what it pays and what it unlocks.
Counts differ depending on what is treated as a mission; the list itself does not change. One numbers 100 missions after the introduction. The other says 101, and its table has 105 lines, because four of Catalina's missions are two in one: each date leads straight into a robbery, First Date into Tanker Commander, First Base into Local Liquor Store, Gone Courting into Against All Odds and Made in Heaven into Small Town Bank. The table below keeps each pair on one line, as the first does. That first reference also counts 14 of them as optional for the story, though every one is needed for 100 per cent.

The map opens in four steps. The Green Sabre, at the end of the Los Santos chapter, opens Flint County, Whetstone and the San Fierro countryside. Are You Going to San Fierro? opens the city itself and the Doherty garage. Yay Ka-Boom-Boom opens Tierra Robada, Bone County and the desert, and Learning to Fly makes the Las Venturas safehouses purchasable. Until then, crossing into a locked area earns an instant wanted level; the secret areas guide covers what is worth reaching early anyway.
Doberman opens Ammu-Nation, and the three weapons unlocked before it, the Sawn-off Shotgun (Just Business), the SMG (Robbing Uncle Sam) and the Silenced 9mm (Gray Imports), only appear once it is done. After that: the Rifle with Body Harvest, remote explosives with Against All Odds, the AK47 with Lure, the Sniper Rifle with Pier 69, the M4 with Yay Ka-Boom-Boom, the Desert Eagle with Black Project and the Combat Shotgun with You've Had Your Chips. How each of them ranks is on the San Andreas weapons tier list.
End of the Line pays $250,000, Breaking the Bank at Caligula's $100,000 and Vertical Bird $50,000. Most missions pay between nothing and $25,000; many early ones reward respect rather than cash, which decides how many Grove Street members can follow you. Two missions test a stat: Amphibious Assault will not start with almost no lung capacity, and Learning to Fly hands out the pilot's licence. The stats and skills guide shows how to raise both.
