Hsin Jaoming has run the Liberty City Triads for over twenty years and is looking for a successor. Kenny, his son Chan and his underboss Zhou all want the job, and Huang works for all three. The Yu Jian sword Huang brought to Liberty City was meant to secure Kenny's place.
Kenny Lee. The last mission reveals that Huang's uncle leads the Wonsu Nodong gang, stole the sword, killed Huang's father, his own brother, and framed Chan and Zhou as police informants. The mission-by-mission version is on our story missions page.

Chan Jaoming is the son of Triad boss Hsin Jaoming and a contender for his succession in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (2009). A sleazy, not very bright playboy despised by his father, he is named as an informant in a fake FIB file and killed by Huang on Kenny's orders, although he was innocent.

To win the Tongs over against Zhou Ming, whom he sees as more thug than leader, Chan wants to win the city's biggest street race. That plan is behind his first missions. He treats Huang as a friend, signs his e-mails "Your Boss and best friend" and promises him a place at his side once he is boss. He gives his first missions from his car parts garage in East Island City, Dukes, and later receives Huang at his penthouse in Algonquin, facing Middle Park.
| Mission | What happens | Reward |
|---|---|---|
Pimp His Ride | Tail the reigning champion's car without being seen, sabotage it at Chan's garage (broken engine, cut wires, a rotten fish hidden inside) and put it back before the tow truck arrives | $50, and AmmuNation.net opens |
Whack the Racers | The sabotaged car crashes at the start; run the three other racers off the track over 3 laps. Chan, hungover, claims he won on his own | $100, the turf map in the PDA, street races and the SMG event at the Gun Club |
Jackin' Chan | The Irish kidnappers lock Chan in the trunk of his own car and set it on fire at the BOABO docks: steal a fire truck, put out the fire and drive him back. Chan blames Huang for the kidnapping | $150 |
Raw Deal | Chan thinks he is making peace with a long-time Triad enemy; it is an ambush, and Huang escorts him on foot to his father's club, the Linen Lounge. Chan then tells Hsin he saved Huang himself | $200 and a safehouse in South Bohan |
Sa-Boat-Age | Chan celebrates the turf taken from Kenny with a boat race. His speedboat, stolen from the Spanish Lords, is sabotaged and breaks down; defend him with an unlimited-ammo SMG until a helicopter picks him up | 12 bags of ecstasy |
Counterfeit Gangster | The FIB raids Chan's counterfeiting workshops: destroy the goods in time, crates on the quays and cars dropped into the water by crane. Chan is convinced Zhou is the rat | None |
Slaying With Fire | Furious that his father had a member of his entourage killed, Chan calls them all rats and gathers them on Happiness Island. He flies the helicopter while Huang throws firebombs, sinks their boats and downs an enemy helicopter | $250 |
On PSP only, Chan teams up with Melanie Mallard, a freelance reporter filming a documentary on the Triads' drug trade: he hopes it will impress the Tongs, with faces blurred and names hidden. In Parking Pickle, Huang finds her van, locked in a container at the docks, by searching the containers one by one with a crane. In Sources, Channel 15 gives Melanie a show and she plans to reveal faces and names: Huang storms the studio and takes her to the Hove Beach docks, where Chan shoots her.
No. His arrest is never shown: Huang learns of it at the start of The Offshore Offload. In One Shot, One Kill, with Chan out on bail, Huang shoots the informant from his entourage, the FIB's key witness. The FIB file from Wi-Find then names Chan and Zhou Ming, but Kenny framed them. Chan denies being the traitor and says someone set them up. More on Hsin Jaoming.
On Kenny's orders, in Clear the Pier, Huang fights his way through Chan's warehouse at the Broker docks with Kenny's men. Chan swears he is not the traitor, then flees by car, and Huang catches him and kills him. More on Huang Lee.
Hsin Jaoming is the elderly head of the Liberty City Triads in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (2009), looking for a successor before he retires. The loyalty test he set for Kenny Lee is what sets the whole story in motion. Wounded by Kenny at the end, he is arrested.

Hsin has run the Liberty City Triads for more than twenty years. He has police officers on his payroll, who tell him that the informant in Chan's entourage is the FIB's key witness, and he hires the private detective Lester Leroc to infiltrate the Angels of Death, then puts him in touch with Huang. He usually receives Huang at his penthouse in Algonquin.

Rat Race | Before he sees the FIB file, Hsin puts a contract on Huang and Kenny: his men chase them and a helicopter fires rockets at their car on the way to his residence. Shown the file naming Chan and Zhou, he retires, names Kenny successor and plans to leave for Macau |
Hsin ordered Kenny to bring him the Yu Jian sword as a loyalty test, knowing Kenny's brother, Huang's father, would have to die. At the roller coaster in By Myriads of Swords, he reminds Huang the sword was meant for him. He reveals the test in Salt in the Wound, after Kenny wounds him with the sword. More on Kenny Lee.

Yu Jian is the family sword Huang's father won in a card game. Triad boss Hsin Jaoming ordered Kenny to bring him the sword as a loyalty test, knowing Kenny's brother would have to die.
