What the Salvage Yard Is
The Salvage Yard arrived with The Chop Shop update on 12 December 2023, and it is run by Yusuf Amir and his cousin Jamal. Yusuf calls you once you are ready, and the property is bought on the Maze Bank Foreclosures website, at one of five locations: Paleto Bay is the cheapest at GTA$1,620,000, then Sandy Shores ($2,030,000), Murrieta Heights ($2,420,000), Strawberry ($2,570,000) and La Puerta, the most expensive at $2,690,000.
How a Robbery Works
Every week the planning board in the Salvage Yard offers three vehicles to steal, one per robbery, drawn from five recurring jobs: The Cargo Ship Robbery, The Gangbanger Robbery, The Podium Robbery, The Duggan Robbery and The McTony Robbery. The list changes every Thursday.
Each robbery follows the same rhythm: scope out the target the first time, complete the planning work, one part of it optional, then a few tasks in freemode, and finish with a fast finale. You do not need the tow truck for any of this; it is only used for the towing side business.
Sell, Salvage or Keep the Car
Once the car is in your yard you have three choices. Deliver it to Yusuf at the port and it leaves in a container for the best price, but any damage on the way lowers it. Salvage it instead and you earn around 80% of that value over time, with no risk. Since March 2024 you can also keep the week's designated car for GTA$20,000, or GTA$10,000 if you own a Document Forgery Office.
Robbery cars are typically worth between GTA$250,000 and GTA$405,000 at full sale value, depending on the vehicle, and challenge bonuses can add up to GTA$50,000 more per robbery.
The Tow Truck Side Business
With a tow truck, GTA$1,100,000 or GTA$650,000 for the battered version, you can tow abandoned cars back to the yard: each one is worth roughly GTA$30,000 to GTA$40,000 once salvaged, and two can be dismantled at a time. Salvaging takes 96 real minutes, or 48 with the Staff upgrade (GTA$625,000), and it carries on while you are offline. Every tow also raises the yard's reputation and the passive income paid into its safe, up to GTA$24,000; the Wall Safe upgrade (GTA$750,000) lets the safe hold more.
