Cal Hampton in GTA 6: Who He Is, Story and Screenshots

Cal Hampton is Jason's friend and a fellow associate of the drug runner Brian Heder in the Leonida Keys. He is the stay-at-home half of the friendship: Coast Guard radio, a few beers, private browser tabs and a healthy dose of paranoia. He is not playable, and no performer has been named.

Who is Cal Hampton?

Cal is the friend who never wants to leave the house. He works for Brian Heder alongside Jason, but his idea of a good night is the Coast Guard radio crackling in the background, a few cold beers and a browser full of tabs he would rather nobody saw. He is not unhappy at the bottom of the ladder; he is comfortable there.

That comfort is also his limit. Cal's paranoia is easier to live with when Jason is around, and Jason is already thinking bigger than the Keys.

What the trailers and screenshots show

Cal arrived with the second trailer on 6 May 2025 and with Rockstar's Only in Leonida pages, which introduced him. He has no scene of his own in the trailers, but he is at Jason's side in most of Jason's screenshots: on the boat with binoculars while Jason fishes, at the pool table with a beer, at the marina bar, and walking out of Brian's boat yard at night with a duffel bag. His own set of images shows him at a mini golf course under a giant alligator, floating on a pink flamingo in a pool, and generally looking like a man perfectly happy with very little.

The Coast Guard comms detail matters more than it looks: Brian's business is moving product by boat, and a friend who listens to the Coast Guard for fun is a useful friend to have. The secret browser tabs and the paranoia suggest the conspiracy-minded sidekick Rockstar has written before, and the t-shirt reading "Violence is Cool! Thanks Videogames" is the studio's usual wink at itself.

Rockstar has not said whether Cal takes part in the main story's heists or stays a Keys character. Everything about him points to the moment Jason outgrows the Keys and leaves him behind.

What Cal says: his lines and the Extended Look

Rockstar's site gives Cal three lines of his own, starting with "What if everything on the internet was true?". The other two are about psychopaths running the world and birds flying in a formation that is a little too perfect: his conspiracy streak, in his own words.

In Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, released on 27 August 2026, Cal gets the last word: the video ends on him telling Jason and Lucia to enjoy this moment of their lives while they are young. It is also Cal who introduces Raul Bautista, Brian's former cellmate, as a former Dominican intelligence agent. Coming from the most paranoid man in the Keys, treat that as Cal's claim, not a confirmed fact about Raul.

His connections in the cast

Jason Duval: his friend. Cal appears in more of Jason's screenshots than anyone but Lucia.

Brian Heder: the drug runner both of them work for. Cal works for him, like Jason.

Voice actor

Not announced. Rockstar has not named Cal's performer; the names fans suggested after the Extended Look are guesses, not confirmed. Rockstar kept the GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 casts quiet until release, so silence here is normal, not a sign of anything.
