Who is Jason Duval?

Jason is the drifter of the pair. He grew up among small-time crooks, tried to straighten out in the Army, and ended up back where he started: in the Leonida Keys, running errands for the local drug trade. He wants a quiet life and keeps landing in the opposite, and he can feel that it is time for a change.

Lucia is that change. Nobody, Jason included, can yet say whether she will be the making of him or his ruin, and that uncertainty is the hook of their story.

What the trailers and screenshots show

The first trailer, on 5 December 2023, showed Jason without naming him: the man in the ski mask robbing a convenience store with Lucia, and the driver in the getaway car. Rockstar gave him his name and his story on 6 May 2025, when the second trailer arrived with the Only in Leonida pages. Those pages place him in the Keys, in a house that belongs to Brian Heder, and show his days there: fishing from a boat with Cal Hampton, drinking at the marina bar under a Brian's Boat Works and Marina cap, riding a motorbike between the palms.

The screenshots also show the other side of him. He handles an assault rifle from a Vice City rooftop with the calm of someone who has done it before, which fits his Army years, and he stands guard behind Lucia with a pistol at a doorway. The Extended Look of 27 August 2026 confirmed that the two protagonists are played in turn, each with their own missions, and that Jason's are the ones that start in the Keys.

What the official material does not say: his age, where he served, why he left the Army, or how he met Lucia. Beyond the idea that she could be the making or the ruin of him, nothing is known about how their relationship starts.

His connections in the cast

Lucia Caminos: his partner in the story and the second playable protagonist. Rockstar frames the pair as a couple who have to trust each other after an easy score goes wrong.

Brian Heder: the drug runner Jason works for. Brian lets him live rent-free in one of his properties in exchange for help with local shakedowns.

Cal Hampton: his friend and fellow associate of Brian's. Cal is the one on the boat, at the pool table and at the marina bar in the screenshots.

Voice actor

Rockstar has not announced Jason's performer. The name most often attached to him online, Dylan Rourke, comes from fan comparisons of face and voice and has never been confirmed by Rockstar or by the actor. Until the credits roll, treat it as a rumour. Rockstar kept the GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 casts quiet until release, so silence here is normal, not a sign of anything.
